What can you say about Mr. Bennett that hasn’t already been said. This summer the world found out what some of us have known for a minute Anthony Bennett is for real!! His performance against China (in the U17 World Championships)  just days after sustaining a concussion served as his global coming out party. 29 points 14 rebounds against one of the world best teams in the age group.

In 2010 he was fortunate enough to be chosen to the Jordan Brand International game held at the famed  Madison Square Gardens in NYC. Anthony along with Kevin Pangos and Dwayne Notice made a strong showing for our Canadian contingency. Due to an injury he was unable to finish the game but still made a strong showing finishing second in scoring on his team. He currently attends Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently ranked # 2 in the country Anthony and Myck Kabongo and Naz Long continue to show a strong Canadian presence in the US.

Strengths: Anthony is an impossible cover. If you use a big he will take him off the dribble, taking to the hoop or hitting a three (he has incredible range for a 6” 8 player). If you put a small forward on him, he tear him apart down low. No matter what you do someone has a chance of getting their feelings hurt . Around the rim the young man is a beast. He is a great rebounder and finishes on the break like a grown a** man. Again be careful or else someone is going to end up getting their feelings hurt.

Weakness: There are no real weaknesses in his game. Some of said he doesn’t play hurt well. But in my experience keeping him off the court is the issue not getting him to play. No matter what the injury. Even after suffering a concussion at the U17 World Championships the coaching staff and his mother had to insist that him not playing was the prudent course of action. The kid wanted back on the court. He just flat out loves to play.

Other than that is ball handling is something that continues to improve and show great promise.

Comments: With his work ethic and his love for the game there are no limitations to this young man’s future. Boy keep putting in work...much respect.
